One of the most popular Irish football clubs in the Irish football league is Monaghan United – the Irish football club from Monaghan that was founded in 1979. The club began to participate in the championship of Ireland since 1985. For several seasons the team was at the bottom of standings for the championship. St James's Gate football club is an Irish soccer club from Dublin, founded in 1902. The club currently stands in the highest Leinster league. The club was founded back in 1902. St James's Gate is one of the founders of the High league in 1921. In the first season the team won the first prize and the title of champions, the first champions in league history.
